What 4K resolution actually means for a live stream
4K, also written as UHD, refers to a frame resolution of roughly 3840 by 2160 pixels, four times the pixel count of standard 1080p Full HD. For that extra detail to be visible, the original channel source has to be encoded at that resolution in the first place. A channel labeled 4K that is actually re-scaled from a lower-resolution source will look sharper than nothing, but it will not deliver true UHD detail.
